Night
and Dreams are predominant themes in Britten's masterpiece for solo
guitar, the Nocturnal. Our imagination and senses are
stimulated during night. Many composers have been inspired by other
nocturnal elements: Nightmares, Darkness, Stars, Feasts, Dances,
Eroticism, Solitude, and Love: Britten (Nocturnal),
Tárrega (Sueño), Brouwer (El
Decamerón Negro), Moreno Torroba (Nocturno,
Serenata Burlesca), Villa Lobos (Suite
Populaire Brasilienne), Malats (Serenata
Española), Brouwer (Canción de
Cuna), Barrios (Sueño en la
Floresta) , Takemitsu (All in
twilight), Guastavino (Sonata
N.3), Piazzolla (Acentuado-Compadre).

Llobet and Segovia managed to build strong ties between European and South American musical life . Isabel , who has taught and played in both continents during the last three decades, can understand this connection very well. She has been lucky to meet two of Llobet’s disciples: Maria Luisa.Anido, her teacher in Bs.As, and Luise Walker in Vienna, with whom she developed a strong friendship. The parallels and influences between these two worlds can be heard in pieces by Segovia-Turina-Ponce, Llobet-Anido-Walker, Manuel de Falla-Guastavino, Villa Lobos-Ginastera- Piazzolla-R Dyens, Bodorova-M.Pujol |
